Clean me up, Neil

If you're a fan of fuzzbox-overdrive, tone-centric guitar solos, dark and crunchy chord structures, soaring  four-part vocal harmonies, and a folk-rock flair, you probably count yourself among the devotees of classic-rock supergroup, CSNY.

Outside of their better known pieces, the band recorded some pretty heady stuff (see, for example, track one of side two of their 1970 release, Deja Vu). I had the good fortune of seeing the full CSNY outfit live in concert some years ago. They still rock pretty darn hard. Not Angus Young hard, but pretty hard nonetheless.

If you are having troubles completing the time-machine that would permit you to see this fab-four in their heyday of 1970, you suck at physics and applied science. Seriously, get with the program. HOWEVER, there is good news for you, dunce! The California outfit, Dawes, just might be your fix. Here they are, from their 2011 LP, with "If I wanted Someone". Heck, this track even mentions a maid (think: Neil Young - A Man Needs A Maid). The similarities don't stop there.

I'll let your ears and eyes be the judge.

CSNY - replete with 70s folk rock splendor
Dawes - replete with 70s  folk rock splendor
